In recent years Weddel Swift has developed as a major importer of chilled and frozen lamb and mutton from around the world sourcing high quality lamb and ovine products for all sectors of the industry including major retail, catering, wholesale and manufacturing.

It is becoming increasingly evident that the majority of our customers these days require a bespoke service and Weddel Swift in partnership with our suppliers are reacting accordingly by producing highly accredited tailor-made lamb and ovine products to suit these requirements.

The worldwide reduction of lamb and mutton numbers seems to have been halted but flock numbers are still low in all the major sheep meat producing countries when compared to the early 1990’s. The reduction in numbers has seen prices increase throughout the world markets creating a reduction in demand and a more focussed approach to purchasing in all market sectors.
